How to choose your yoga mat
Yoga mat choice depends on several factors, including your level of experience, the type of yoga you practice and your personal preferences.
Here are some tips to help you choose the right mat for you:
Thickness: Yoga mats are available in different thicknesses. Thicker mats offer greater cushioning and are ideal for practices that involve many positions on the floor or for those with joint problems.
Material: Yoga mats can be made of various materials, including PVC, rubber, TPE (thermoplastic elastomeric rubber), or eco-friendly materials such as natural latex or cork. Consider your allergen sensitivity, environmental sustainability and ease of cleaning when choosing your mat material. I personally use the alo moves yoga mat
Non-slip: Make sure the mat offers good grip to avoid slipping during practice. Some mats have a textured surface or special layers to improve grip. I personally find that the cork ones guarantee an excellent grip, especially if, like me, your hands sweat while practicing.
Size: The mats are available in various sizes. Make sure the mat is long and wide enough to allow you to perform the poses without problems.
Portability: If you plan to transport the mat frequently, consider its portability. Some mats are lighter and easier to roll, while others may be heavier but offer more cushioning.
Budget: Mats are available at different price ranges. Find a balance between quality and budget. Remember that a good quality mat can last a long time and contribute to your practice experience.
Finally, the secret is always the same: try, test and find the right mat. Most likely over time you will collect several mats and choose the right one based on the practice to be carried out, as if you had to wear a coat based on the temperature outside. the yoga mat will be your special ally and as I always say, your safe place.
